Hello!

 It has been quite a while since I have posted anything here. 

Why?

That is a really good question. But to be fair it is also easy to answer. 

First, it takes a lot of work to post something on a blog. You have to make sure it is all spelled correctly, that the grammar is in accordance with the proper rules, and it needs to be set up nicely in an orderly manner.

Second, every post should be set up in a manner that is aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Of course, this is problematic for me because I am not a technophile and my idea of what is pleasing to the eye is seriously out of date.

Third, as I am in throes of creeping decrepitude and practicing to be a crotchety ol' curmudgeon, it means I almost don't care.

Finally, I don't have someone who really has the time as a web designer to clean up what I do desire to post.

BUT...someone (okay, more than one) has asked me to come back and post things occasionally. 

So, here I am introducing at least something I will be doing, I am going to publish my weekly sermons here. If you can tolerate listening to my voice (I have tried that, and it is not a pleasant experience), they are available at Zion Lutheran's Facebook page. There, you will be able to watch & listen to the scripture lessons for that Sunday, confess the creed, sing along with the hymn of the day, and then listen to the sermon.

As I will be publishing my sermons here, I may also return to publishing occasional musings.

How will we respond?

  On Wednesday, an event took place that has been rather polarizing, Charlie Kirk was murdered!   I have thought long and hard about what to write. On 9/11 I posted my thoughts on sinfulness - mine and the sinfulness of every single person who has, who is, of whoever will inhabit human flesh. That sinfulness is often manifested in vile evil. Trinity XI Sunday - Devotion in semi-Exile

   Lection for Trinity XI 1 Kings3:1-15       2  Corinthians 1:1-22 A friend of mine from Connecticut, lamenting the state of our society, thought about what God would have to say to us today.  He thought, "If the Lord were to speak to us in the same form as the Lord's Prayer, only in reverse, what would He say?"  He wrote the following rendition of the Lord's Prayer: My children, who art on earth, Hollow be thy world. My kingdom's coming, thy will's undone, on earth there is no heaven. I gave you each day your daily bread, and forgave you your trespasses, even while you trespassed against me. You led yourselves into temptation, as I wanted to deliver you from the evil one. Tuesday of Trinity III - Devotion in semi-Exile

Lection for Tuesday after Trinity III  Joshua 5:1-6:5        Acts 10:1-17 Peter, up on Simon’s roof to pray, is given a vision. This vision happens three times, and if you want to pay attention to numbers in the Bible, three is the number of the God, three-in-one Trinity. Peter receives the same vision (1 vision), three times. Peter is informed He is to kill and eat that which has been let down before him in this vision. Peter will not do so, for the animals are unclean, they are unholy. But the voice tells him, “What God has cleansed, no longer consider unholy.” God is preparing Peter for the visit of Cornelius, a Gentile. This same Cornelius also had a vision which informed him he was go to Peter. Cornelius is a convert to Judaism, formerly a Gentile, one of the unclean.
